The portability of pins makes them a great choice for environments where people wear simple uniforms, such as for employees that provide their own work clothes in specific colors. The classic lapel pin is the best choice for people who work in formal environments, especially those who wear suits on a daily basis. It is the traditional place for wearing pins on formal outfits, so it will not look out of place in environments where people are expected to dress according to traditional dress codes.
The pins that are worn in this way should be designed to look good with formal clothing. That usually means keeping to an understated design that does not have bright colors. The pins do not need to be black and white, but it is vital to make sure that all of the colors match and none of them seem excessive or garish. Precious metals are not necessary, and are usually best avoided because they drive up the cost of the pin, but they are acceptable for companies that can afford them and want to show off their wealth.

That having been said, there are other ways to use pins that can be even more effective as long as the business is willing to create a plan for handing them out and stick to it.
