3. Create Birdhouse Columns
Putting a birdhouse in your backyard can be a great way to teach your children about birds. All you have to do is put some birdseeds inside the birdhouse and watch as the animals feast. From there, you can show your children the birds that live in your general area, how they act, what their specific songs are, and when they come out! You don’t need children to enjoy a birdhouse, though—they’re great ways for anyone to get in touch with the environment!
Though many people typically hang their birdhouses on a pole in the backyard, those who don’t have one of those can use gabions to make a column for the birdhouse to stand on. This can be done easily by creating a cylinder with the gabion, then filling it with rocks to your desired height. Be sure to leave a bit of space at the top of the gabion, though, so you can rest the birdhouse on top without it falling over! It’s also advisable that you glue or adhere the birdhouse to the gabion effectively so it does not move during a windstorm.
4. Make Gabion Tables
By far the most elegant way to use gabions in your backyard, gabion tables are incredibly useful contraptions that are also very easy to make. All you have to do is create cages with the gabions, fill them with rocks, and then place a piece of wood on top of them. This might seem like a very basic thing to do, but it’s at the top of our list simply because of how cost-effective and elegant it is. Gabion tables make any patio look very well-structured and modern. If you want an even more interesting type of table, putting a rock on the top of the table is a great way to make sure that the tables don’t get harmed in the rain. If you are set on using wood, we recommend using waterproof wood to make sure that they are not affected by inclement weather.
