The Ins and Outs of 3D Body Contouring

When many people exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet, they are able to transform their bodies exactly as they hope. Thanks to advances in medical science, cosmetic surgery, and other related areas, a new process known as 3D body contouring can now give many people the body they so desire. A non-invasive procedure that is not traditional surgery nor liposuction, 3D body contouring relies on using state-of-the-art technology to freeze fat cells on various parts of the body, such as the stomach, thighs, and legs. Carried out over a specified treatment schedule, the results for many people can be dramatic. Freezing Fat Cells 

The most common aspect of 3D body contouring, freezing fat cells is what ultimately gives a person the body they always wanted. A procedure known as cryolipolysis, the freezing of fat cells will result in the death of the fat cells, which are then simply digested by the body as a source of energy. To freeze the fat cells, the procedure involves placing a cool gel pad over the part of the body to be treated. Once in place, a vacuum is then attached to the area in order to draw out the fat. During this time, the vacuum is emitting extremely cold air, with temperatures reaching about 17 degrees Fahrenheit. This will lead to a mild cold sensation, sometimes resulting in slight inflammation in the area being treated.

Treatments Less Than One Hour 

In most cases where 3D body contouring is taking place, the average length of time for each treatment is around one hour. In many cases, the treatment time may be less, ranging from 15-30 minutes. However, the length of time per treatment will depend on a number of factors, most notably how large an area is to receive treatment.

Are the Treatments Painful? 

As stated earlier, there may be a bit of inflammation at the site being treated. However, due to the non-invasive aspects of the treatment, most patients generally feel little if any pain during the procedure. In fact, during the procedure, it is quite common for a patient to engage in many types of other activities, such as listening to music, watching television, or even taking a nap. 

Who is a Good Candidate for 3D Body Contouring? 

Most experts agree that 3D body contouring can provide significant benefits for both men and women of almost any age. However, some doctors recommend patients who desire 3D body contouring have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or less. And of course, before considering this specialized treatment, it is always recommended to visit your doctor first to discuss the procedure, and to also make sure you have no underlying or undetected health issues. In some cases, people who have a pacemaker or defibrillator are not advised to undergo 3D body contouring. 

How Long Before I Notice Results? 

While individual results will always vary, the majority of patients undergoing 3D body contouring will begin to see noticeable results in six to eight weeks. In studies, it has been shown the average patient experiences a 24% reduction in fat after only a single treatment. In many cases, one treatment is all that is needed. However, for problem areas that are stubborn, two or more treatments may be needed to achieve the desired results. 

No Downtime After Treatment 

When undergoing 3D body contouring, one of the biggest benefits is that there is no required downtime after the treatment, as there would be after traditional surgery or liposuction. Instead, once a treatment is finished, a patient can simply leave the office and go home, back to work, or to whatever other activity they had planned that day.
